The Contemporary Music Venture
The CMV series of concerts aims to provide student composers the opportunity to have their music performed to the highest standard by excellent and well-rehearsed performers at public concerts. We strive to create an environment where composers can work with performers throughout the writing process – a luxury rarely available to early-career composers. Each concert frames student works with established contemporary repertoire of the same instrumentation and through including the performers of each concert in curating the programme we place the performer at the heart of the concert experience.
It is our hope that we can promote contemporary music to a wide audience not necessarily au fait with it in an unintimidating setting whilst providing a great forum to show off the talent and hard work of the University's Music Department.
It is a cornerstone of this series that our concerts are free, they last one hour and that all are welcome.
